The challenge
Yakumed is a specialist consultancy helping global pharmaceutical companies enter and operate in Japan — a market with uniquely complex regulatory requirements. Their expertise is rare and technical, but their website failed to communicate authority. Dense service lists, unclear navigation, and no clear path for a visiting Head of Regulatory Affairs to understand where to start.
Strategic approach
We restructured the site around the decisions a pharma executive actually faces: market entry, regulatory strategy, clinical trials and commercial launch. A clean, clinical visual system with confident typography, generous whitespace and a restrained colour palette let the depth of expertise speak without clutter. Content strategy was shaped by Yakumed's own thought leadership — including their flagship paper on Japan's eight regulatory reforms.
Creative solution
A rebuilt information architecture, a refreshed visual identity carried consistently across the site, and a service-led navigation that guides visitors from problem to practice area. The site showcases Yakumed's unique position at the intersection of global pharma development and Japan's evolving PMDA/MHLW regulatory landscape — from Phase 1 waiver guidance to orphan drug designation and premium pricing strategy.
Measurable results
A clearer, faster site that positions Yakumed as a serious, senior partner in Japanese pharmaceutical development. The site effectively communicates complex regulatory value — from conditional approval alignment with US/EU standards to pediatric drug premium reform — in language pharmaceutical executives trust.
